Yoga
Yoga is a classical system, which coordinates body, breath, and mental focus. Consistent practice over time releases accumulated tensions in the muscles, calms frayed nerves, restructures alignment, detoxifies the blood stream, increases oxygen absorption, changes brain wave patterns, and induces felicity through improved respiration and hormonal circulation.
Vinyasa Yoga
A creative flow of continuous movements coordinated with the breath. The flow can range from the most gentle to the most athletic practice. The practitioner increases flexibility, strength and mindfulness through constant and steady practice. Most Jai open classes are vinyasa: we invite you to read specific class descriptions by clicking on the class name in the schedule section of the website.read
Restorative Yoga
Restorative yoga postures are usually deeply supported by blankets, blocks, or other props and are held for several minutes at a time. These soothing and well-supported poses offer us the opportunity to linger quietly and to savor the simple sweetness of life. A restorative practice has a particular ability to leave us nourished and well rested.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga or Taoist Yoga incorporates long, passive holding in asana (no standing poses) to penetrate the body deeper than the muscle tissue and to access the connective tissue and fascia, stimulating growth, lubrication, spaciousness and energy. As a result of this quiet practice, you may also experience peacefulness deep at your core while achieving a sense of heightened energy throughout the entire body.
Jai! Power Fusion
Jai’s own blend of yoga, Pilates, and pure strength, this method of moving your body involves synchronizing the breath with progressive series of postures – a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.
Meditation
There is a dimension of our human experience where perfection dwells, a place of deep abiding peace, a place where we can go, to come home. The practice of meditation teaches us how to connect with this awareness, the awareness that exists within each one of us. Meditation draws upon our own imagination, enjoyment of beauty and deep-seated longing for peace. The breath is used as a focus for the mind as one learns to work with the constant arising of sensations, thoughts and feelings. Stress relief and heightened capacity for joy are natural by-products. This private instruction adapts time-honored techniques to suit the established and new practitioners.
Massage and Healing
Thai Massage
An ancient art of body therapy for healing, health and transformation, Thai Massage is an interactive manipulation of the body using passive stretching and gentle pressure along energy lines. The effect is uniquely relaxing as well as energizing. Receiving a Thai massage is a bit like doing yoga without putting forth any effort while also getting acupressure treatments!
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage currently represents the western “standard” for massage. Also commonly known as “therapeutic massage”, it represents a general massage system that focuses on increasing circulation and promoting relaxation.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage consists of slower strokes and more pressure. The therapist targets deeper muscle groups after first warming the soft tissues. Therapists also use deep-tissue massage to help break up scar tissue.
CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, noninvasive, yet effective type of bodywork. In a typical session, the therapist monitors your craniosacral rhythm with her hands. She conducts other gentle assessments and corrects the sources of pain and dysfunction using gentle manipulative techniques. Most people find the sessions to be deeply relaxing.
It has successfully been used to treat such diverse conditions as headaches, TMJ dysfunction, chronic middle ear infections, vertigo, depression, back pain, joint immobility, neck pain, sinus congestion, migraines, and learning disabilities.
Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the idea that an unseen life force energy (“ki”) flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The practitioner channels the energy with his/her hands. No physical massaging is necessary since ki flows through the body of the healer into the patient via the air. The reiki master draws upon the energy of the universe to increase his or her own energy while performing a healing.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
